Gonzales Fire Department Training Standards - 2000
1 CPR Current CPR Card
2 Medical Minimum, Current First Aid card
3 Rescue Minimum, complete a department approved one (1) hour course in operations of rescue equipment every calendar year.
4 SCBA Minimum, complete a department approved one (1) hour course in operations of Self-Contained-Breathing-Apparatus every calendar year.
5 Ladder Minimum, complete a department approved 1 hour drill in ladder operations and climb ground and ariel ladder every calendar year.
6 Grass Minimum, Complete a department approved 1 hour drill in grass firefighting techniques every calendar year.
7 Haz Mat Minimum, complete a department approved one (1) hour course in awareness of hazardous material every calendar year.
8 Drive Every member shall maintain a valid California Driver's License with less than 4 points from DMV.
Failure to maintain any of the above standards will allow the chief of the fire department to place any member on a six (6) month maximum administrative leave of absence.
Administrative leave shall mean but not limited to:
1 Member shall not carry a department pager.
2 member shall not respond to emergencies
3 member shall not participate in drills
Administrative leave may be terminated at any time by the chief of the department upon successful completion of the required training or elimination of the cause of leave.
Any member on administrative leave for six (6) months that does not complete the required training or otherwise meet department standards may be dropped from the roll.

Certified Engineers shall maintain current Class A or B drivers license and train on each unit annually.
