Breathing Air Fill Station - Rescue 8161
Firefighter Filling Instructions
- Insure the filling station has sufficient pressure to fill air bottles
- Fill station tanks over desired pressure, or
- Compressor running
- Set Regulator to appropriate pressure
- 4500 psi for 4.5 airpacks
- 2200 psi for 2.2 airpacks
- Close fill valves on front of fill station
- Close both valves
- Clockwise clises valves (hand-tight only, do not over tighten)
- Unlock and open fill station door
- Fill station locking lever - Down
- Locking mechanism will not be active unless fill pressure is over 200 psi
- Insert (make sure in place) plastic spacers are in bottom of filling station
- Check hydrostatic test dates on any bottles to be filled (5 year max)
- Place bottle(s) to be filled into the holder(s)
- Connect air bottle to hose
- Scott 4.5 bottles (4500 psi) connect directly
- Scott 2.2 bottles (2200 psi) require an adapter
- adapters insure proper hose connection(s)
- two adapters are avaialable
- MUST be istalled on 2200 psi bottles or will not work
- Close the hose bleed valve(s)
- Open air bottle valve(s)
- Close and lock the fill station door
- Fill lstation locking lever - UP
- Locking mechanism will not be active unless fill pressure is over 200 psi
- Make sure adapters, if used, are NOT against door (DOOR CAN JAM)
- Slowly open fill valve(s) on front of fill station
- Slowly open valve(s)
- 1/4 turn maximum
- Too fast heats bottles (they will loose pressure when cooled)
- WHEN PRESURE EQUALIZES tank(s) are full
- Close fill valve(s) on front of fill station
- Unlock and open fill station door (fill station locking lever - DOWN)
- Close air bottle valve(s)
- Open bleed valve(s)
- Disconnect and remove air bottles
- When finished filling all bottles
- Recuce pressure to zero on pressure regulator
- Connect hose(s) to stationary mounts
